Petrina Sigona

Dance Instructor

Petrina graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lamar University Beaumont with a B.A. Degree in Dance and a member of Phi Kappa Beta. She trained under Mrs. Halverstadt who was a Principle Dancer with The Bella Lewisky Modern Dance Company. Studied Ballet from Julio Debittencourt who was a Lead Teacher at the Washington Ballet Company before teaching at Lamar University. Studied Jazz and Choreography under Mrs. Princes Morris who was a Certified Martha Graham Technique Instructor. In addition to receiving her B.A. in Dance at Lamar she also studied Labanotation, this is a notation system for recording and analyzing human movement that was derived from the work of Rudolf Laban who described it in Written Dance. Petrina is also knowledgeable in Dance History and Choreographic Principles. After Graduation from High School and while attending College Petrina has continued to teach all forms of dance in the local area since 1992. Some of her students have opened their own dance studios in the surrounding areas and several have pursued professional careers in Dance. One of her former students has danced with The American Ballet Theatre. Petrina began teaching at Debbie’s Dance Etc. in 2015 and teaches Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Modern.
